 Description
Rye bread is considered to be the healthiest and medicinal product. Try to make this bread and enjoy it with your family.
 Method
Mix yeast with 1cup warm water and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let foam. Mix 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of warm water. Mix flour, eggs, sugar, salt and melted margarine. Add yeast/water mixture and milk/water mixture. Knead until dough does not stick to bowl. Cover and keep in a warm place. Let rise until double in size, approximately 1 hour. Fold in from sides. Sprinkle with flour; punch down. Let rise again. Take from bowl and form into loaves. Coat with beaten egg and let rise until double in size. Bake at 350 F for 15 minutes, then lower heat to 325F and bake for 30 minutes longer. Remove from oven and coat with margarine or butter.

  • 8 cups rye flour.
  • 4 tablespoons sugar.
  • 2 cups warm water.
  • 1 cup milk.
  • 1/2 stick margarine, melted.
  • 1 large yeast cake.
  • 2 eggs, room temperature.
  • 1 tablespoon salt.
