 Goose With Apples
Source: Olga, RussianFoods.com Editor   Mail to: cuisine@russianfoods.com
 Description
Goose with apples is a traditional Russian Christmas dish, a perfect decoration of a holiday table. Sour-sweet apples impart the unique and tender taste of the dish. Goose with apples is served with baked apples, stewed cabbage, potatoes and crumbly buckwheat.
 Method
Peel and core apples and slice them. Grease the goose with salt outside and inside, stuff with apples and sew up the hole. Grease the goose with butter and put in a deep pan with the water. Bake in a preheated oven on average heat for 2-2 1/2 hours. Brush with goose jus regularly while baking. When it is ready, take out the thread and cut into slices. Serve goose slices on apples.

 Ingredients
  • 1 ea goose.
  • 1 1/2 kg sour apples (antonovka).
  • 2 tb butter.
  • 1/2 c water.
  • salt.

     Response to Irina
I tried the Goose recipe and added a few herbs to mine. It was delicious and that is what cuisine is all about - using your own creativity. I also enjoyed this site, very much. I would suggest that if Irina has such a horrible problem with living in the USA, that she leave and go back to Russia. Her negativity is very disturbing - perhaps her attitude has hindered her ability to acclamate herself here in this country. Go away, Irina, or get a better attitude.
