     Vareneki are Great!
Having lived 2 yrs in the Ukraine I came to love vareneki. The only thing disappointing about this recipie is that it doesn't include filling for potatoes or cabbage. Those kinds are much better than these sweet ones.

i like potato & cheese or saurekraut
The two favorites aren't included. Potato and cheddar filling ones are the best. Saurekraut ones are very yummy.

The way my mama used to make them.
My mom and 6 sisters used to make them 2x a year. They made it with potatoes, sausage/bacon bits and sauerkraut, blueberries and cottage cheese. Put whole thing into roaster and cover with 1/2 & 1/2 and bake. I would love to have this recipe. I miss her very much, and this would be comfort food for my husband and me.

     Amazing!
My grandmother came to the US from the Ukraine when she was a teenager. We make ours with potato, onion and cottage cheese or cabbage and cottage cheese (my favorite). We always top them with a sauce made of an onion satueed in a stick of butter, then we stir in 4 oz. of sour cream. Delicious Ukrainian tradition! Thanks Grandma Anna!
