Simple White Bread is an important thing on Russian table. First and main dishes are usually eaten with bread. Its aroma and tempting crispy crust will make you mouth water.
Method
Dissolve yeast in milk, stir in salt, flour and melted butter. Knead the dough until it is soft and elastic. Fill in baking form with the dough up to one third. Wait until the dough doubles in volume. Bake in a medium heated oven for an hour. If you want a sweet bread, add sugar and cardamom.

25 g yeast.
1 1/2 c milk.
1 ts salt.
1 tb butter.
400 g flour.
17 g cardamom (optional).
80 g sugar (optional).
